The building itself has this understated elegance thing going on. The rooms are thoughtfully put together – honestly, better than some 4-star places I’ve stayed in Bucharest. What really got me was the attention to small details… like, they actually have decent lighting for reading, and the bathroom wasn’t an afterthought crammed into a medieval corner. The beds are properly comfortable too, which – let’s be real – isn’t always a given in heritage buildings.

But here’s the thing that makes Casa ABA work: location without the chaos. You’re literally a two-minute walk from the main square, but Nicolae Bălcescu doesn’t get the same foot traffic as some of the other streets, so you can actually sleep at night. During the day, you’ve got easy access to everything – the Brukenthal Museum is practically next door, and you can walk to the Bridge of Lies before most tourists even finish their coffee. The staff seem to actually live in Sibiu (shocking, I know), so they give you real recommendations instead of just pointing you toward the obvious tourist traps. One person told me about this tiny ceramics shop on a side street that I never would have found otherwise.

Parking can be a bit of a dance if you’re driving – it’s the Old Town, so that’s just reality – but they’ll help you figure it out. Check-in was smooth, no drama, and they’re flexible about timing if you message ahead. The whole place runs efficiently without feeling corporate, which is honestly the sweet spot for a place like this. With a 9.2 rating, I was wondering if it was just review inflation, but after staying there… I get it. It’s not luxury, but it’s exactly what you want when you’re exploring Sibiu – comfortable, well-located, and run by people who care about what they’re doing.
