Brasov Holiday Apartments
You know what surprised me most about Brasov Holiday Apartments? It’s tucked away on this quiet residential street – Strada Egretei – that feels completely removed from the tourist chaos, but you’re actually just a few minutes’ walk from everything that matters in Braşov. I mean, when I first pulled up to Nr. 3, I honestly thought my GPS had led me astray because it felt so… normal? Like, refreshingly normal.
The thing is, these aren’t your typical cramped hotel rooms. The apartments actually feel like someone’s home – and I suspect that’s exactly what they were before being converted. There’s this lived-in quality that makes you want to kick off your shoes immediately. The kitchenettes are properly equipped (not just for show), which turned out to be perfect since there’s a little grocery store literally around the corner where locals shop. I ended up making coffee there most mornings instead of hunting down overpriced café lattes in the old town. The Wi-Fi is solid too, which matters if you’re trying to upload those Bran Castle photos without waiting forever.
What really won me over was how the place sits in relation to Braşov itself. You’re close enough to walk to Council Square in about twelve minutes – I timed it because I’m obsessive like that – but far enough away that you don’t hear the late-night revelry from the bars near the Black Church. The street parking situation is actually manageable here, unlike in the historic center where it’s basically impossible during peak season. Plus, there’s something satisfying about staying where regular Braşov residents live, seeing kids walking to school in the morning and older folks chatting on benches. It gives you a different perspective on the city beyond just the medieval towers and tourist restaurants.
The 9.7 rating honestly makes sense once you’re there for a day or two. It’s not flashy or Instagram-perfect, but everything works the way it should. The heating keeps up with those chilly Transylvanian evenings (trust me, even summer nights can surprise you), the hot water pressure is decent, and the beds are comfortable enough that I didn’t wake up feeling like I’d been wrestling bears. The check-in was refreshingly straightforward too – no lengthy speeches about amenities or upselling attempts, just here’s your key, here’s how everything works, enjoy your stay.
I suppose if I had to nitpick, the soundproofing between units could be better – you’ll occasionally hear your neighbors, though it’s nothing dramatic. And the décor is pretty basic, sort of that international apartment style that doesn’t really reflect Romanian character. But honestly? After spending days exploring Peleş Castle and hiking in the Carpathians, you just want a clean, comfortable place to decompress. This delivers on that completely, while keeping you connected to how Braşov actually feels as a living city rather than just a tourist destination.
