Boutique hotel & spa DOMA u nás – entry AquaCity free
You know what’s funny about finding great hotels? Sometimes the best ones are hiding in plain sight on a square you’d otherwise just walk through. That’s exactly what happened when I stumbled across DOMA u nás on Sobotské námestie – honestly, I was just trying to figure out the quickest route to AquaCity when I noticed this gorgeous boutique property tucked right into the heart of Poprad’s old town.
The thing that got me immediately was how they’ve managed to feel both intimate and polished at the same time. I mean, boutique hotels can go either way, right? Sometimes you get cramped rooms with quirky decor that’s more annoying than charming, or you get sterile minimalism that costs a fortune. This place actually nails the sweet spot – there’s genuine character in the design without feeling like someone’s trying too hard to be different. The spa element isn’t just thrown in as an afterthought either; they’ve really thought about creating this whole wellness experience that flows naturally from the moment you check in. And speaking of check-in, the staff here clearly know what they’re doing – no fumbling around with key cards or confused looks when you ask about local restaurants.
But here’s the real kicker, and why I’d absolutely stay here again: they include free entry to AquaCity, which is honestly worth the room rate alone if you’re planning to spend any time there anyway. Most people don’t realize how expensive those day passes add up, especially if you’re traveling with family. Plus, you’re literally a few minutes away from one of Slovakia’s best thermal complexes, but you get to retreat back to this peaceful square when you’ve had enough of the crowds. The location gives you the best of both worlds – you can walk to proper restaurants and cafes in the old town (definitely try that little place on the corner if it’s still there), but you’re not stuck in some generic hotel district where everything closes at 9 PM. Parking was surprisingly manageable too, which anyone who’s driven around Poprad’s center will appreciate. I stayed during shoulder season, so I can’t speak to how crazy it gets in peak summer or ski season, but the neighborhood itself has this nice residential feel that suggests it probably doesn’t turn into a complete zoo even when things get busy.
You'll need to let the property know in advance what time you'll arrive.
