You know what caught me off guard about Bory6a Apartamenty? It’s actually tucked away on this quiet residential street that feels worlds apart from the tourist chaos in central Zakopane, but you’re still only about a 10-minute walk from Krupówki – which, honestly, is the perfect distance. Close enough that you can stumble back after trying too much oscypek and żubrówka, but far enough that you won’t hear drunk tourists singing Polish folk songs at 2 AM.

The free parking thing isn’t just a nice touch – it’s genuinely a lifesaver in Zakopane where finding a spot near the center can cost you both money and your sanity. I mean, the lot’s not huge, but it’s right there, and during my stay in late spring, there was always space (though I’d imagine August might be a different story). The apartments themselves are solid – nothing fancy, but everything works, which is more than I can say for some places I’ve stayed in the Tatras. The kitchenettes are actually functional, not just decorative, and there’s enough counter space to prep a proper breakfast before heading out to the trails. The Wi-Fi was surprisingly good too, which mattered since I was working remotely for part of my stay.

What really sold me on this place was how the owner clearly gets what travelers actually need. There are drying racks in every unit – and if you’ve ever been caught in a Tatra mountain storm, you know how crucial that is. The beds are firm (thank god, after days of hiking), and the windows open wide enough to get that crisp mountain air flowing through at night. The location on Jaszczurówka puts you right in that sweet spot where you can walk to the cable car stations without dealing with the main street crowds, plus you’re practically next door to some of the better local restaurants that most tourists never find. It’s not luxury by any stretch – the décor is pretty basic and you might hear your neighbors occasionally – but it’s clean, comfortable, and run by people who actually understand what makes a mountain town stay work. For the price point and that 9-star rating, it makes total sense.
