Black Dora turned out to be a pleasant discovery during our trip to the Carpathians — a four-star hotel that truly lives up to its rating. Located on Vasyl Stefanyk Street in Yaremche, it’s close enough to the center (7-10 minutes on foot) while being in a quiet area where you only hear the river at night. Parking is free and spacious — a big plus, especially in summer when there are lots of tourists. Check-in went smoothly, the staff is friendly and speaks several languages, which is rare for small Carpathian hotels.
The rooms are quite comfortable, with good renovation and everything you need — the air conditioning works quietly (we tested it during the July heat), Wi-Fi is stable even on upper floors. The bathroom is clean, hot water is always available, though the pressure is sometimes a bit weak — probably due to the mountain location. The windows offer beautiful mountain views, especially if you get a room on the second or third floor. Breakfasts at the hotel restaurant are tasty and filling — traditional Ukrainian cuisine with Carpathian flair, generous portions. Black Dora operates year-round, and the owners told us it’s especially cozy in winter when snow covers everything around.
The main advantage is the location: it’s about 20 minutes by car to the Bukovel ski lift, and even closer to Probiy and Zhenetsky waterfalls. You can book excursions at the hotel or rent bicycles (high demand in summer, better to book in advance). The downsides are minimal — perhaps the soundproofing isn’t perfect, sometimes you can hear neighbors, and there’s no pool or SPA, but that’s normal for this category of hotels. For the money, Black Dora is an excellent choice for those seeking comfort without excessive pretensions and wanting to explore the beauty of Yaremche.
