The thing about this location is that you’re actually in the thick of things without the tourist trap feeling. Strada Independenței runs right through the newer part of Brașov, which means you’ve got real Romanian life happening around you – coffee shops where locals hang out, small grocery stores, that sort of thing. It’s maybe a 15-minute walk to the old town and those famous medieval walls everyone comes to see, but honestly, I liked having this little buffer zone. You can duck back here after a day of sightseeing and feel like you’re in a real neighborhood instead of a museum. Plus, parking is actually doable on this street – try finding a spot near Piața Sfatului and you’ll see what I mean.
What really got me was how they’ve done the interiors. The rooms have this clean, modern feel but with little touches that feel thoughtful rather than corporate. The beds are genuinely comfortable (I’m picky about this), and the bathrooms are spacious enough that you’re not bumping into everything. When I asked about hiking trails up to Tampa Mountain, the guy at the front desk pulled out his phone and showed me photos from his own hikes, told me which path to take depending on how much time I had. That’s the kind of local knowledge you can’t fake. The breakfast spread is solid too, nothing fancy but good Romanian staples alongside the usual eggs and coffee. I mean, you’re going to want to try the local bakeries anyway, but it’s nice to have options. The building itself is quiet – something about the way it’s positioned means you don’t get much street noise, which I wasn’t expecting given the location. And that 9.3 rating? It makes sense once you’re there. It’s not trying to be the fanciest place in Brașov, but everything just works the way it should.
