First Impressions
Walking into ART Hotel feels like discovering a well-kept secret tucked away on a quiet cobblestone street in Sibiu’s Old Town. The building itself has this understated elegance — you know, the kind of place that doesn’t need to shout about being special because it just is. What struck me immediately was how they’ve managed to blend contemporary design with the medieval charm of the surrounding area. The lobby has this warm, artistic vibe that actually lives up to the hotel’s name, with carefully curated pieces that feel intentional rather than just decorative.
Location & Neighborhood
Honestly, the location is pretty much perfect if you want to experience Sibiu properly. You’re literally steps away from the Grand Square and all those iconic colorful buildings with the “eyes” peering down at you — I mean, you can practically roll out of bed and be at the Brukenthal Museum in two minutes. What I love about Str. Centumvirilor is that it’s just off the main tourist drag, so you get all the convenience without the constant foot traffic. Couples seem to absolutely adore this spot (and I can see why), since you can wander the romantic medieval streets hand-in-hand and duck into cozy cafés whenever you want.
The Rooms
The rooms at this four-star hotel strike a nice balance between modern comfort and local character. Mine had these lovely high ceilings and windows that actually opened — something you don’t always get in historic buildings. The design is clean and contemporary, but they’ve added touches that nod to the artistic heritage of Transylvania. The bathroom was surprisingly spacious for an Old Town property, and the bed was genuinely comfortable (not just hotel-marketing comfortable). What I appreciated most was the attention to details like proper lighting for reading and enough outlets for all your devices.
Breakfast Experience
The breakfast setup here is quite solid — they offer both continental and buffet options, which gives you flexibility depending on your morning mood. The buffet has a good mix of local Romanian specialties alongside the usual European fare. I particularly enjoyed trying some regional cheeses and the fresh bread selection. The dining area has large windows that let in plenty of natural light, making it a pleasant way to start your day before heading out to explore. It’s not the most elaborate spread you’ll ever see, but everything feels fresh and well-prepared.
Why Guests Love It
What really sets ART Hotel apart is how it manages to feel both central and peaceful at the same time. You’re in the heart of one of Romania’s most beautiful medieval cities, yet the hotel itself provides a calm retreat when you need to recharge. The staff genuinely seems to care about your experience — they’re knowledgeable about local attractions and can point you toward hidden gems that aren’t in every guidebook. For the price point and location, it delivers exactly what you’d hope for: comfortable accommodations in an unbeatable spot that lets you truly immerse yourself in Sibiu’s charm without any of the usual Old Town compromises.
