Parking was surprisingly easy too, which – if you’ve ever tried to find a spot near the lake during a sunny weekend – you’ll appreciate.

What struck me most was how they’ve managed to make these compact spaces feel genuinely cozy rather than cramped. The interiors have this modern mountain vibe going on, lots of wood and clean lines, but with enough character that it doesn’t feel like you’re staying in an IKEA showroom. The beds are actually comfortable (I’m picky about this), and there’s something oddly satisfying about having everything you need within arm’s reach. The kitchenettes are small but functional – perfect for making morning coffee while you watch the mist lift off the mountains. Honestly, the attention to detail impressed me more than some five-star places I’ve stayed at.

Here’s the thing about Štrbské Pleso that most people don’t realize until they get here – it’s not just a summer destination. Sure, everyone knows about the hiking trails and the lake, but winter transforms this place completely. The tiny houses work brilliantly in both seasons, actually. In summer, you can throw open the windows and let in that crisp mountain air (it gets cool at night even in July, so pack accordingly). Winter? Well, let’s just say there’s something pretty special about being warm and cozy in your little house while snow piles up outside and the lake freezes over.

The whole area feels less touristy than some other Tatra spots – you’re still close enough to hop over to Poprad if you need a proper town, but far enough removed that you can actually hear the silence at night. The staff clearly knows the area well too; they pointed me toward some lesser-known trails that I never would have found otherwise. One small thing – the check-in process is straightforward, but make sure you have their contact info handy since the houses are somewhat tucked away from the main road.

Look, if you’re expecting a traditional hotel experience with room service and a concierge, this isn’t it. But if you want something that feels authentic to this incredible mountain setting while still being comfortable and thoughtfully designed, ARIETES MARMONT gets it right. It’s the kind of place that makes you want to extend your stay by a few days.
