The building itself is pretty understated from the outside, nothing fancy, but that’s actually refreshing when everything else in town is trying so hard to look like a mountain lodge.

The apartment itself surprised me with how spacious it feels – and I’ve stayed in plenty of cramped places in Zakopane where you’re basically sleeping in a closet. The kitchen is actually functional (shocking, I know), with decent cookware if you want to make breakfast instead of paying tourist prices at every meal. What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets at night – you’re far enough from the main drag that you won’t hear drunk tourists stumbling back from Pod Aniołami at 2 AM, but close enough that you can walk to Gubałówka’s cable car without breaking a sweat. The heating works well too, which matters more than you’d think when you’re visiting in winter and half the places in town feel like ice boxes.

Here’s the thing though – the location is what makes this place special, even if it doesn’t look like much in photos. You’re practically neighbors with locals, not just other tourists, so you get this authentic feel of what it’s like to actually live in Zakopane. Plus, parking isn’t the nightmare it is closer to the center (seriously, finding a spot near Krupówki in summer is like winning the lottery). The rating of 9 makes total sense once you factor in the value – you’re getting way more space and peace for your money than those overpriced hotels that charge extra for everything. Sure, it’s not going to wow you with marble bathrooms or a concierge, but sometimes you just want a comfortable, honest place to crash after hiking Morskie Oko or exploring the Tatra peaks. The check-in was straightforward too, none of that awkward waiting around while they “prepare your room” nonsense. If you’re the type who values location and authenticity over fancy amenities, this place gets it right.
