From U Lejbusia, you can walk to the trail heads heading up to Dolina Kościeliska in about fifteen minutes, or if you’re feeling ambitious, it’s an easy bus ride or short drive to Zakopane proper. But honestly? I found myself staying in Kościelisko most evenings because it has this authentic mountain village vibe that Zakopane sometimes loses in all the tourist hustle. There’s a great local restaurant just down the street where the pierogi are actually homemade (not frozen), and the staff at the apartment gave me directions to a little grocery store that locals use – way better prices than the tourist shops. Parking was straightforward too, which anyone who’s driven in this region will tell you is not always a given. The 9-point rating makes total sense once you’ve stayed there – it’s not trying to be a luxury resort, but it nails everything that actually matters when you’re exploring the Tatras.
