You know what struck me first about Apartment Alios Lux? The fact that it’s tucked away on this quiet residential street – Ioan Popasu – that most tourists never stumble across, but it’s literally a ten-minute walk from the old town chaos. I mean, you step out the door and you’re in this proper Brașov neighborhood where locals are walking their dogs and kids are playing in small courtyards, but then you round a couple corners and boom – you’re at the Black Church.
The building itself has this understated elegance that I honestly wasn’t expecting from the photos. Four stars feels right – it’s not trying to be some flashy five-star palace, but everything works beautifully. The apartments are spacious (and I mean actually spacious, not travel-website spacious), with these lovely hardwood floors that creak just enough to feel authentic but not enough to annoy you. The kitchens are properly equipped too – I’m talking full-size fridge, decent cookware, the works. Which is clutch because the Piața Sfatului market is maybe fifteen minutes away on foot, and honestly, picking up some local cheese and wine for an evening in became one of my favorite routines.
What really sets this place apart though is how quiet it gets at night. You’d think being in the city center area would mean noise, but this little pocket of Brașov settles down beautifully after dark. Plus – and this is huge if you’re driving – there’s actually decent parking nearby. Not always guaranteed, but way better odds than anywhere closer to Council Square. The 9.7 rating makes total sense once you’ve stayed here; it’s one of those places that just… works. The check-in was smooth (they actually showed up early when I texted), the WiFi doesn’t cut out every five minutes, and the shower pressure is legitimately good. Small things, but they add up. The location gives you this perfect balance – close enough to walk to Rope Street or grab dinner at one of those cozy spots near the synagogue, but far enough from the tourist crowds that you can actually hear yourself think. I’d definitely book this again, especially if you’re planning to stay more than just a night or two and want somewhere that feels like a temporary home base rather than just a place to crash.
