Honestly, I wasn’t expecting much from an apartment rental in Veľká Lomnica – I mean, it’s not exactly Bratislava or the main tourist strips. But Apartman Lomnica Tatry view C13 completely caught me off guard in the best way possible. The moment you step onto that balcony (and trust me, you’ll spend half your time out there), the Tatra Mountains just sort of… dominate everything. I’m talking about those dramatic peaks that look like someone painted them onto the sky – you know, the kind of view that makes you actually stop scrolling through your phone for a minute.
The apartment itself sits on Tatranská street, which is actually perfect because you’re close enough to walk to the main village center but far enough that you’re not dealing with tour bus noise at 7 AM. The building’s pretty modern, and I was honestly relieved about the elevator situation – hauling luggage up multiple flights after a long drive from the airport isn’t exactly my idea of vacation fun. Inside, everything feels thoughtfully put together rather than just functional. The kitchen actually has decent knives (rare in vacation rentals, let me tell you), and there’s this little dining nook by the window where I found myself having coffee every morning while watching the light change on the mountains. The Wi-Fi was solid too, which matters when you’re trying to research hiking trails or figure out train schedules to Poprad.
What really sold me on this place was how it manages to feel both cozy and spacious – the living area opens up nicely, but you’ve still got that intimate apartment vibe that makes you want to cook dinner instead of eating out every night. The bedroom’s quiet, which is crucial because Veľká Lomnica can get surprisingly lively during peak season with all the cable car traffic heading up to Skalnaté pleso. I actually loved being able to walk to the base station in about fifteen minutes through the village – beats dealing with parking up there, especially on weekends when half of Slovakia seems to have the same hiking plans. The whole area has this authentic mountain town feel that you don’t get in some of the more touristy Tatras spots. Plus, the local grocery store is literally a five-minute walk away, and they stock everything you need, including some decent Slovak beer that pairs perfectly with those mountain sunsets from the balcony.
