Look, I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to ApartHost Zakopiańskie Chaty on Nędzy Kubińca street, I wasn’t sure what to expect. The address looks intimidating if you’re not familiar with Polish, but once you’re actually in Kościelisko, it’s pretty straightforward to find. What struck me right away was how these chalets actually feel like traditional Zakopane architecture without being touristy knockoffs, you know? They’ve got that authentic highland style with the dark wood and steep roofs, but everything’s clearly been updated for comfort. The parking situation is actually decent here – something you definitely can’t take for granted in this area, especially during ski season when half of Warsaw seems to descend on the Tatras.
The thing about staying here is that you’re getting the best of both worlds. You’re in Kościelisko, which honestly feels more authentic than staying right in Zakopane center where it’s all crowded and commercialized. I mean, don’t get me wrong, you’ll still want to head into Zakopane for dinner and the whole Krupówki street experience, but it’s nice to come back somewhere quieter. The chalets themselves are surprisingly spacious – I stayed in what they call an apartment, and it had this proper mountain cabin feel with modern touches. The kitchen was actually functional (not one of those tiny hotel kitchenettes), which came in handy since there’s a decent grocery store just a few minutes away if you want to grab some local oscypek cheese and make breakfast.
What really sold me on this place was the attention to details that matter when you’re actually living somewhere for a few days. The heating works properly – crucial in the mountains, especially if you’re visiting outside summer. The Wi-Fi was solid, the beds were comfortable without being too soft, and honestly, the whole place just felt clean and well-maintained. You can tell someone actually cares about the property. The area gets pretty quiet at night, which is perfect after a day of hiking or dealing with tourist crowds. During the day, you’ve got easy access to trails heading toward the Tatras, and if you’re into that sort of thing, some of the best mountain biking routes in the region start practically from your doorstep. It’s the kind of place where you can actually relax and feel like you’re experiencing the Polish mountains rather than just passing through them. For a 4-star place with consistently good ratings, it delivers on what it promises without any unpleasant surprises.
You'll need to let the property know in advance what time you'll arrive.
