Look, I’ve stayed in a lot of places around Karpacz, but Apartamenty Sun & Snow Nad Łomnicą actually surprised me – and I mean that in the best way possible. When you first pull up to Nad Łomnicą 14B, it doesn’t scream “luxury resort” or anything, but honestly? That’s part of what I loved about it. The building sits in this quiet residential area where you can actually hear the Łomnica River if you listen for it (hence the name, I guess), and there’s something really peaceful about waking up without the usual tourist chaos right outside your window. The apartments themselves are properly done – not that fake-fancy stuff you see everywhere, but clean, modern spaces that feel like someone actually thought about how real people live. The kitchenettes are small but functional, which matters when you’re staying more than a couple nights and get tired of restaurant food every meal.
What really got me was the location, though most people probably don’t realize how smart it is until they’re there. You’re maybe a 15-minute walk from the main Wang Church area where all the tour buses dump everyone, but far enough away that you’re not dealing with crowds every time you step outside. The real gem is that you’re incredibly close to some of the better hiking trails – I’m talking about the ones that lead toward Śnieżka that don’t start from the packed cable car station. There’s this little trail that begins basically around the corner that most tourists never find, and it connects to the main mountain paths without all the initial madness. Plus, and this might sound weird, but the parking situation is actually decent here. I know that’s not glamorous, but if you’ve ever tried to park anywhere central in Karpacz during peak season, you’ll understand why I’m mentioning it.
The thing that really sealed it for me was the staff – they’re local people who actually know the area, not just seasonal workers reading from a script. When I asked about weather conditions for hiking, the guy at reception gave me his personal phone number and told me to text him if I needed real-time updates from someone who checks the mountain conditions daily. That’s not something you get at the big hotels, you know? Sure, it’s not perfect – the wifi can be spotty if you’re trying to upload a ton of photos, and the walls aren’t super thick so you might hear your neighbors if they’re having a loud conversation. But honestly, for what you’re paying and what you get, especially with that 9.6 rating that seems completely justified, it’s one of those places where you end up extending your stay if you can. I actually did that – booked three nights, ended up staying five because I just didn’t want to deal with finding another place that felt this comfortable.
