Apartamenty Riders Lodge Kościelisko Chotarz Bór
Look, I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to Apartamenty Riders Lodge in Kościelisko, I wasn’t expecting much from the name alone. But this place on Chotarz-Bór actually surprised me in the best way possible. You know what struck me first? How quiet it is here, even though you’re literally minutes from all the Zakopane chaos. I mean, you can still get to the main drag easily enough, but there’s something about being tucked into this part of Kościelisko that just feels… well, like you’re staying where the locals would actually want to live.
The apartments themselves are honestly pretty solid for a 4-star setup – nothing fancy, but everything works and it’s clean, which is more than I can say for some places I’ve stayed in the Tatras. What I really appreciated was the kitchen situation. Actually having counter space and a decent-sized fridge means you can hit up the local markets (there’s a great one just down the road toward the village center) and not feel like you’re eating every meal out. The beds are comfortable enough, though the walls aren’t exactly soundproof – not a huge deal unless you’re traveling with particularly loud neighbors. Check-in was straightforward, no drama there, and parking is right there which is clutch if you’re planning to explore the mountain roads.
Here’s the thing that really makes this place work though – the location is kind of perfect for that sweet spot between mountain access and village life. You’re close enough to the hiking trails that you don’t need to drive everywhere, but far enough from the tourist madness that you can actually relax in the evenings. I spent a couple mornings just walking around the neighborhood with coffee, and it’s genuinely peaceful – you hear birds instead of tour buses, you know? Plus, if you’re into the whole mountain biking thing (which, given the “Riders Lodge” name, I’m guessing they’re targeting), you’re positioned really well for both the easier valley trails and the more serious mountain routes. The staff seemed to know their stuff about local trails too, which was helpful. I mean, it’s not going to blow your mind or anything, but for the price point and that 9 rating it’s got, I can see why people keep coming back. It’s just a solid, no-nonsense place to base yourself while you’re exploring this part of the mountains.
