You know what surprised me most about Apartamenty Rezydencja Regle? It’s actually tucked away on this quiet side street – Regle 9 – which means you’re literally a five-minute walk from all the Zakopane madness but you don’t hear any of it at night. I mean, if you’ve been to Zakopane during peak season, you know how crazy Krupówki Street gets with all the tourists and street performers. But here? Honestly, I slept like a baby even in July when the town was absolutely packed.
The apartments themselves have this really comfortable, lived-in feel – not fancy, but genuinely cozy in that mountain cabin sort of way. Mine had these thick wooden beams and windows that actually opened wide (which is huge for me since I can’t stand stuffy rooms). The kitchen was properly stocked too, which I wasn’t expecting from a 3-star place. I actually ended up cooking a few meals because there’s a decent little grocery store about two blocks down, and after spending half your budget on those tourist restaurants along the main drag, cooking at home starts looking pretty appealing. The Wi-Fi was solid – I had to do some work calls and didn’t have any issues, though I’ll admit the connection seemed a bit slower on the top floor.
What really sold me on this place was the location for hiking. You’re basically at the foot of the Tatra foothills, and I could walk to the Gubałówka funicular in maybe ten minutes. But here’s the thing locals know – if you head up Regle street instead of going toward the touristy areas, you hit some really nice trail access points without fighting crowds. The owner (super friendly guy, speaks decent English) actually drew me a little map of his favorite lesser-known trails. Parking was straightforward too, which if you’ve driven in Zakopane, you know that’s not always a given. There’s a small lot behind the building and I never had trouble finding a spot, even on weekends. Check-in was refreshingly simple – none of that formal hotel lobby stuff, just quick and personal. The whole place has maybe 15 units, so it feels more like staying at someone’s mountain house than a hotel. For the price point and that 9-star rating, I totally get why people keep coming back here. It’s not going to wow you with luxury, but it gets all the important stuff right and gives you a genuine taste of staying in the mountains rather than just visiting them.
