Honestly, I wasn’t expecting much when I first pulled up to Apartamenty Pod Brzezinami on Sądelska Street – I mean, it’s tucked away in this quiet residential area that you’d probably drive right past if you weren’t looking for it. But you know what? Sometimes those unassuming places turn out to be exactly what you need, and this little apartment hotel absolutely nailed that balance between feeling local and being genuinely comfortable.

The name literally means “Apartments Under the Birches,” which sounds almost too quaint to be real, but there actually are these lovely birch trees scattered around the property that give the whole place this unexpectedly serene vibe. What struck me right away was how the owner (I think his name was Tomasz?) seemed to genuinely care about getting the details right – the apartments themselves are simple but thoughtfully set up, with proper kitchenettes that actually have everything you need, not just a mini-fridge and a prayer. The Wi-Fi worked perfectly, which honestly can be hit-or-miss in smaller Polish towns, and the beds were surprisingly comfortable. I mean, I’ve stayed in supposedly fancier places where I’ve slept worse.

Location-wise, you’re about a fifteen-minute walk from the main square, which is perfect because you get that authentic residential feel without being completely cut off from everything. There’s a little grocery store just down the street – Żabka, I think – which was clutch for grabbing breakfast supplies and snacks. Parking was never an issue, which anyone who’s tried to navigate old European town centers will appreciate. The whole area gets pretty quiet after about 9 PM, so if you’re looking for nightlife you’ll need to head into the center, but if you want to actually sleep well, it’s ideal. What really impressed me was how clean everything was and how responsive the staff were when I had a question about the heating (took me a minute to figure out the thermostat). For a 3-star place, they’re definitely punching above their weight – that 9 rating makes total sense once you spend a night or two there. It’s not flashy, but it’s the kind of place where everything just works the way it should, and you end up feeling more like a temporary local than a tourist passing through.
