Honestly, I wasn’t expecting much from Apartamenty Niebanalne when I first walked up to the building on Grunwaldzka – I mean, it’s not exactly a flashy name, right? But you know what struck me immediately? The place actually lives up to its “unusual” promise, and in the best possible way. The apartments have this refreshingly honest vibe, like someone put real thought into what travelers actually need instead of just throwing together generic hotel furniture and calling it a day.

The location is honestly brilliant if you know Zakopane at all. You’re close enough to Krupówek that you can easily walk to all the tourist madness – the street food, the highlander music, those crazy wooden souvenir stalls – but you’re just far enough away that you won’t be dealing with drunk tourists stumbling around at 2 AM. I actually appreciated that distance more than I thought I would, especially after spending a few evenings exploring the main drag. The walk back gives you just enough time to decompress, and Grunwaldzka itself is pretty quiet once you step off the main tourist circuit. Parking was straightforward too, which anyone who’s driven through Zakopane during peak season will tell you is basically a miracle.

What really impressed me was how the apartments feel like actual homes rather than sterile hotel rooms. The kitchenettes aren’t just for show – they’re properly equipped, which saved me a fortune on restaurant meals (though let’s be honest, the oscypek and zapiekanka from Krupówek are still mandatory). The whole setup works perfectly whether you’re here for hiking in the Tatras or just soaking up the mountain town atmosphere. The building itself is quiet – I could hear my neighbors occasionally but nothing disruptive, and the morning sounds are mostly just birds and the occasional car rather than tour buses rumbling past. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward too, none of that overly formal hotel reception drama. The 9 rating it’s got makes total sense once you’re there – it’s not trying to be fancy, it’s just genuinely well-done. For a 3-star place, it punches way above its weight, and honestly, I’d stay here again without hesitation. Sometimes the best places are the ones that just get the basics right and add a few thoughtful touches without making a big deal about it.
