Apartamenty Księżycowe SPA – Tatra View – Golden Apartments
Look, I’ll be honest – when I first saw the name “Apartamenty Księżycowe SPA” I had no idea how to pronounce it (turns out księżycowe means “moon” in Polish, which actually makes sense once you see the views). But this place on Oberconiówka really surprised me. You know that feeling when you book somewhere that sounds almost too good to be true for the price, and you’re secretly preparing for disappointment? Well, this wasn’t that at all.
The location is what really sells it – I mean, you’re literally looking at the Tatras from your window, and not in that “if you crane your neck and squint” way that some places advertise mountain views. We’re talking proper, dramatic peaks that look different every hour as the light changes. The spa part isn’t some massive resort-style setup, but honestly, after spending days hiking around Zakopane, those thermal pools hit differently. The apartments themselves are spacious enough that you don’t feel like you’re living on top of each other, which matters when you’re traveling with family or friends who’ve been stuck in a car together for hours. The kitchenette situation is actually useful too – there’s a Żabka just down the road, and after you’ve had your fill of oscypek and kielbasa from the market stalls, sometimes you just want to make a simple breakfast before heading out to Kasprowy Wierch.
What I appreciated most was how quiet it gets at night, even though you’re not isolated from everything. Oberconiówka isn’t right in the chaos of Krupówki street – thank god, because that pedestrian zone gets absolutely mental during peak season – but you can still walk to the main action in about fifteen minutes. The staff actually seems to know the area well, not just the scripted tourist stuff. When we asked about trails that wouldn’t be packed with tour groups, they pointed us toward some routes I never would have found otherwise. Sure, it’s a 3-star place and you can tell in some of the details (the WiFi can be spotty, and don’t expect luxury linens), but the bones of it are solid. The parking situation is straightforward, which matters more than you’d think when you’re dealing with Zakopane’s summer crowds. I’d definitely stay here again, especially in shoulder season when you get those crisp mountain mornings and the tourists thin out a bit.
