Apartamenty Enklawa pod Giewontem by Apart Concept Podhale
Look, I’ve stayed in a lot of mountain places over the years, but Apartamenty Enklawa pod Giewontem actually surprised me – and honestly, with a name that long, I wasn’t sure what to expect. These apartments sit right in Kościelisko, which if you don’t know the area, is this perfect little spot that’s close enough to Zakopane’s chaos but far enough away that you can actually sleep at night. The location on Chotarz-Bór is genius because you’re literally staring at Giewont (that’s the sleeping knight mountain, for those keeping track) from your window, but you’re not dealing with the tourist madness that comes with staying right in town.
What I really loved about this place – and I mean this – is that it feels like someone actually thought about how people live, not just where they sleep for a night. The apartments are spacious in a way that most mountain accommodations just aren’t, with proper kitchens where you can actually cook something decent after a day of hiking. The owners clearly know their stuff because everything’s set up for longer stays, which makes sense since once you’re here, you won’t want to leave quickly anyway. The whole complex has this modern mountain vibe that doesn’t try too hard – clean lines, good materials, but not so fancy that you’re afraid to put your muddy boots down. Parking’s sorted (thank god, because finding a spot in this region can be a nightmare), and the check-in was refreshingly straightforward.
Here’s the thing about staying in Kościelisko that a lot of people don’t realize – you’re positioned perfectly for everything. Want to hit the trails? You’re practically on the doorstep of some incredible hikes that aren’t completely overrun with tour groups. Need supplies? There’s actually decent shopping nearby without the Zakopane markup. The area gets pretty quiet in the evenings, which was perfect for me, but if you’re looking for nightlife, well… you’ll need to head into town for that. I stayed during shoulder season and it was blissfully peaceful – I imagine summer gets busier, but the location means you’re never really feeling crowded. The apartment itself had these big windows that frame the mountains beautifully, and there’s something about waking up to that view that just sets the whole day right. The 9-point rating makes total sense once you’re there – it’s not trying to be a luxury resort, but it absolutely nails what it is: a really well-thought-out base for exploring this gorgeous part of the Tatras.
