Look, I’ll be honest – when I first walked up to Apartament Zamoyskiego Centrum, I wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star place. But you know what? Sometimes the best surprises come in unassuming packages, and this little gem on Zamoyskiego Street is exactly that kind of pleasant shock.
The location is actually brilliant if you know Zakopane at all. You’re literally an eight-minute walk from Krupówki (the main pedestrian street that every tourist hits), but here’s the thing – you’re just far enough away that you don’t get the chaos and noise that comes with being right in the thick of it. I mean, during peak summer and winter seasons, Krupówki can feel like a carnival, so having this quiet pocket to retreat to is honestly perfect. The apartment itself sits in one of those charming older buildings that gives you a real sense of the neighborhood – you’ll hear locals chatting in the courtyard in the mornings, and there’s something really authentic about that. Plus, if you’re driving up from Kraków, parking isn’t the nightmare it can be closer to the center.
What really got me about this place was how thoughtfully it’s set up. The apartment feels like someone actually lives there (in the best way possible) – not like those sterile hotel rooms where everything’s bolted down and covered in plastic. The kitchen has proper cookware, which is clutch if you want to grab some oscypek cheese and local bread from the market and have a proper breakfast before hitting the trails. The beds are surprisingly comfortable too – I was expecting that typical budget accommodation mattress situation, but slept really well. The Wi-Fi actually works, which… well, if you’ve traveled in the Tatra region, you know that’s not always a given. The heating system keeps things cozy during those mountain evenings when the temperature drops, and the windows are decent quality so you’re not dealing with drafts or street noise. There’s this nice attention to detail throughout – good lighting for reading, enough outlets for your devices, a proper shower with decent water pressure. Small things, but they add up when you’re staying somewhere for more than a night or two.
What strikes me most is how this place manages to punch above its weight class. That 9 rating isn’t some fluke – it’s earned through doing the basics really well and adding just enough personal touches to make you feel welcome rather than processed. The whole area has this lived-in mountain town vibe that I find way more appealing than the tourist-trap spots. You can walk to everything you need, but you’re also perfectly positioned for day trips into the mountains or even that gorgeous drive up to Morskie Oko if you’re feeling ambitious. Honestly, for the price point and location, this is the kind of place I’d book again without hesitation – and I’m pretty picky about where I stay.
