Which is perfect because parking in central Zakopane is… well, let’s just say it’s an adventure you don’t want. The apartment itself has this solid, no-nonsense vibe – not fancy, but everything works and it’s clean. The SPA part isn’t some elaborate wellness center, more like a decent-sized bathroom with a proper tub and good water pressure, which after a day of hiking is honestly all you need.

What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets at night. Zakopane can be pretty rowdy, especially during ski season or summer holidays, but this little pocket stays peaceful. The owners clearly know their stuff too – they’ve got local hiking maps that aren’t the touristy nonsense, and they pointed me toward this bakery on Kościeliska that does proper oscypek (that’s the local smoked cheese, and trust me, get it warm). The apartment gets morning light really nicely, and there’s something satisfying about having coffee while looking out at Giewont peak. Sure, the furniture’s a bit dated and the WiFi gets moody sometimes, but you’re in the Tatras – go outside! The rating of 8 feels about right; it’s not going to wow you with luxury, but it does what it promises without the inflated prices you’ll find closer to the cable car stations. Perfect for people who want a genuine base camp rather than a resort experience.
