Honestly, I wasn’t expecting much when I first pulled up to Apartament Widokowy on Droga do Olczy – I mean, the street name basically translates to “road to Olcza” which sounds pretty ordinary. But you know what? Sometimes the best finds are tucked away on these unassuming residential streets, and this place totally proved that point.

The apartment lives up to its “widokowy” (view) name in a big way. From the windows, you’re looking out at this gorgeous stretch of the Tatra foothills that honestly makes you want to just sit there with your morning coffee and forget about whatever hiking plans you had. The owner clearly knew what they were doing when they picked this spot – it’s far enough up the hillside to catch those mountain views, but you’re still only about a 15-minute walk down to Krupówki if you want to hit the main tourist strip. What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets here in the evenings. Zakopane can be pretty bustling, especially during ski season or summer hiking months, but this little pocket feels removed from all that chaos.

The apartment itself is what I’d call “mountain practical” – not fancy, but everything works and it’s clean. The kitchen actually has decent cookware (you’d be surprised how many places skimp on this), which came in handy since we grabbed some oscypek and bread from the local market and made our own breakfasts. Parking was straightforward too, which is honestly a relief because navigating Zakopane’s narrow streets with a rental car can be… well, let’s just say it’s character-building. The host was responsive when we had questions, though our Polish is pretty terrible so we relied heavily on Google Translate – they were patient about it. I will say the place feels more spacious in person than in the photos, and the heating works well, which matters if you’re visiting in shoulder season when those mountain temperatures can surprise you. It’s definitely not luxury accommodation, but for the price point and that location, it delivers exactly what most people actually need when they’re using Zakopane as a base for outdoor adventures.
