Look, I’ve stayed in a lot of places in Karpacz over the years, and Apartament Szmaragd is honestly one of those gems that makes you want to keep it secret. It’s tucked away on Bolesława Prusa street – you know, that quieter stretch just off the main tourist drag where you can actually hear yourself think. The building itself has this clean, modern feel that’s refreshing after dealing with some of the more, well, let’s call them “rustic” accommodations you’ll find in the Sudetes.
What really got me was how thoughtfully everything’s been put together. The apartment (and yeah, it’s a proper apartment, not just a hotel room with a mini-fridge) feels like someone actually lives there and cares about the details. The kitchen’s fully equipped – I mean actually equipped, not just the bare minimum – and there’s this nice little balcony where you can sit with your morning coffee and watch the town wake up. The Prusa street location is perfect because you’re close enough to walk to the main square and all the restaurants, but far enough that you’re not dealing with drunk tourists stumbling around at 2 AM. Plus, parking’s not a nightmare here like it is closer to the Kopa chairlift.
I’ll be honest, I was skeptical when I first booked it – a 10 rating seemed too good to be true. But after spending a week there last autumn (perfect timing, by the way, if you want to avoid the summer crowds but still catch decent weather), I get it. The owners clearly give a damn about the place. Everything works, it’s spotlessly clean, and they’ve thought about the little things that make a difference when you’re staying somewhere for more than just a night or two. The Wi-Fi’s solid, the shower pressure’s excellent, and the beds are actually comfortable – not those saggy mattresses you sometimes get in mountain towns. My only tiny complaint? The walls are a bit thin, so if you’re unlucky enough to get neighbors who don’t understand inside voices, you might hear them. But honestly, that’s pretty standard for this type of building in the area. If you’re planning to explore Karpacz properly – and I mean really explore, not just hit the tourist spots – this is the kind of base camp you want.
