Look, I’ve stayed in my share of mountain apartments, but this place on Sarnia Street actually gets it right. When you first walk into Apartament Sarnia, you’re not thinking about the compact layout or the typical Polish mountain decor – you’re immediately drawn to those windows. I mean, having Śnieżka right there in your face every morning is honestly something else. You know how most places promise “mountain views” and you get a sliver of hillside between buildings? Not here. The whole western face of the Sudetes spreads out like someone hung a massive landscape painting, except it changes with the weather and light throughout the day.
The apartment itself feels lived-in rather than sterile – which I actually prefer when I’m staying somewhere for more than a night. The kitchen’s got everything you need if you want to skip the touristy restaurants down in the main part of Karpacz (though honestly, the walk down Sarnia to the center is pleasant enough, maybe fifteen minutes if you’re not rushing). What struck me was how quiet it gets at night. You’re close enough to everything but far enough up the hill that you don’t get the weekend party noise that can plague some of the spots closer to the lifts. The 9.3 rating makes sense – it’s one of those places where the small details work. Good water pressure, reliable WiFi, and the heating actually keeps up with those chilly mountain evenings, even in shoulder season.
Here’s what I wish someone had told me before I booked: parking can be a bit tricky on Sarnia Street during peak season, but there’s usually space if you’re patient. Also, if you’re planning to hit Śnieżka early (which you should – the crowds get ridiculous after 10 AM), you can actually see the weather conditions on the peak right from the apartment windows. Saved me from a few soggy hikes, honestly. The whole setup works especially well if you’re the type who likes to have coffee while watching the sunrise hit the ridgeline, or if you want somewhere comfortable to decompress after spending the day tramping around the Krkonoše trails. It’s not luxury in the spa-hotel sense, but it’s genuine mountain living with that view that never gets old – even after a week, I was still taking photos of Śnieżka from different windows at different times of day.
