You know what caught me off guard about Apartament Pod Kozińcem? It’s actually tucked right along Bulwary Słowackiego, which sounds fancy but is basically this lovely tree-lined street that runs parallel to the main tourist chaos. I mean, you’re literally a five-minute walk from all the action on Krupówki Street – the wooden highlander restaurants, the street performers, the whole shebang – but when you’re back at the apartment, it feels like you’ve escaped to this quieter pocket of Zakopane.

The place itself is honestly more spacious than I expected for a 3-star spot. The apartment has this lived-in feel that’s way better than some sterile hotel room, and the windows face toward the Tatras, so you get these glimpses of the mountains through the trees (especially nice in the morning with coffee). What I really appreciated was the little kitchen setup – nothing fancy, but after a few days of oscypek and kielbasa, you’ll want to make your own breakfast, trust me. The bathroom’s compact but functional, and the heating actually works properly, which… well, if you’ve stayed in older Polish mountain accommodations, you’ll know that’s not always a given.

Here’s the thing about the location that the booking sites don’t really tell you – yes, you’re close to the center, but you’re also positioned perfectly for hitting the trails. The path up to Gubałówka is practically around the corner, and if you’re planning to catch those minibuses to Morskie Oko or the cable car to Kasprowy Wierch, you won’t be hauling your hiking gear through crowds for twenty minutes. Parking can be a bit tricky during peak season (July and August are absolutely mad), but there’s usually street parking if you’re not too picky about walking an extra block or two. The building itself is nothing to write home about – typical Polish apartment block from the outside – but the location and that 9-rating make sense once you’re settled in. It’s the kind of place where you feel like you’re staying in someone’s well-maintained guest apartment rather than a hotel, which honestly makes the whole Zakopane experience feel more authentic.
