Kowary itself is this quiet little town that most people zip past on their way to the bigger Sudeten peaks, but you know what – that’s exactly why staying here works so well. Pocztowa Street is right in the old part of town, maybe a three-minute walk from the main square where there’s this bakery that does incredible szarlotka (I mean, I’m not usually a cake person, but still). The apartment sits in one of those solid pre-war buildings that just feels… substantial, you know? Thick walls, high ceilings, the kind of place where you can actually sleep without hearing every footstep from upstairs. And about that “Pod 13” name – I’m guessing it’s because it’s literally under number 13, which is sort of charmingly straightforward in that Polish way.

What really got me though was how thoughtfully everything was set up inside. The owner clearly understands what travelers actually need – decent WiFi that doesn’t cut out during video calls, a kitchen with more than just a hot plate and broken can opener, proper blackout curtains for sleeping in. There’s this little seating area by the window where you can watch the morning routine of the neighborhood unfold with your coffee. The whole place has this lived-in comfort that’s way better than those sterile hotel rooms where everything’s bolted down. Plus, parking is actually manageable here (not something you can take for granted in these older Polish towns), and the check-in was refreshingly simple – none of that awkward standing-around-the-lobby thing.
