You know what struck me first about Apartament Plopilor Studios? The location is honestly perfect if you want to feel like you’re living in Sibiu rather than just visiting it. Strada Plopilor is this quiet residential street that’s literally a three-minute walk from all the Old Town action, but you won’t hear drunk tourists stumbling around at 2 AM. I mean, you’re close enough to Piața Mare that you can grab coffee and pastries from those little bakeries locals actually go to, but far enough away that you can actually sleep.

The building itself has that solid, no-nonsense Romanian apartment feel – thick walls that keep things properly quiet, and the studios are set up like someone actually thought about how people live. The kitchenettes aren’t just for show (looking at you, other “studio” hotels) – there’s real counter space and decent appliances. Honestly, after staying in places where you can barely fit a coffee cup next to the mini-fridge, this was refreshing. The bathrooms are compact but well-designed, and the water pressure is surprisingly good for an older building. Parking can be a bit tricky since it’s a residential area, but there’s usually street parking within a block or two if you’re patient.

What really sells this place, though, is how it puts you right in the rhythm of the city. You’ll walk the same route to the center as people heading to work, you’ll shop at the same little grocery stores, and honestly – that 9.1 rating makes total sense once you’ve stayed here. It’s not flashy or Instagram-perfect, but everything just works the way it should. The check-in was smooth (they actually answer their phone, which isn’t always a given), and while the décor isn’t going to win any design awards, it’s clean and comfortable with decent Wi-Fi. I actually got more work done here than in fancier places because there weren’t constant distractions. Plus, being in a real neighborhood means you’re walking distance from those family-run restaurants on the side streets – the ones that don’t have English menus but serve food that’s ten times better than the tourist spots around the main square.
