But this little place actually surprised me in the best way. It’s tucked away on a quiet side street that most tourists probably walk right past, which is perfect because you get that authentic Zakopane vibe without the constant bustle of people heading to Krupówki Street (though you’re literally a five-minute walk from all that action when you want it).

Peter – and yes, there really is a Peter who runs this place – has clearly put thought into making this feel like a proper mountain retreat rather than just another rental. The apartment itself is clean and well-maintained, with those thick wooden beams that remind you you’re actually in the Tatras, not some generic city hotel. What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets at night. I mean, Zakopane can get pretty rowdy during peak season, especially with all the highlander music drifting from the restaurants, but this street stays peaceful. You’ll sleep well here, which honestly matters more than fancy amenities when you’re planning to hit the trails early or spend long days exploring Gubałówka.

The location is what really makes this place work though. You’re close enough to walk to the main drag for dinner – I’d recommend heading toward Restauracja Gazdowo Kuźnia if you want proper regional food – but far enough away that you’re not dealing with drunk tourists stumbling around at midnight. Plus, if you’re planning day trips to places like Morskie Oko or want to catch the funicular up to Gubałówka, you’re positioned perfectly. Peter actually knows the area well and gave me some solid recommendations for less crowded hiking spots, which you definitely won’t get from the big chain hotels. The whole experience feels more personal, I guess – like staying with someone who actually cares whether you have a good time in their town rather than just processing another booking. For a 3-star place, it punches way above its weight, and that 9 rating makes total sense once you’ve stayed there.
