Look, I’ve stayed in a lot of places in Zakopane over the years, and honestly? Apartament Pastelowy Centrum surprised me in the best way. The name literally means “Pastel Center,” which sounds a bit cheesy until you actually walk in and realize they nailed it – the whole place has this soft, calming color scheme that somehow makes you feel instantly relaxed after battling the crowds on Krupówki Street.
The location on Goszczyńskiego is actually perfect if you know Zakopane at all. You’re maybe a five-minute walk from all the main action, but tucked away enough that you won’t hear drunk tourists singing Polish folk songs at 2 AM (trust me, that gets old fast). I mean, you can literally walk to the cable car station without breaking a sweat, and there’s this little bakery around the corner – I think it’s called Piekarnia Góralska – where locals actually go for their morning bread. The apartment itself feels more like staying at a design-conscious friend’s place than a typical rental. Everything’s been thought through, you know? The kitchen actually has decent knives and real coffee cups, not those tiny hotel things that make you feel like you’re playing house. The bathroom has this rainfall shower head that I honestly didn’t expect, and the water pressure is surprisingly good for an older building.
What really sold me though was waking up and realizing how quiet it gets at night – Zakopane can be pretty rowdy during peak season, but this spot hits that sweet spot where you feel connected to everything without being overwhelmed by it. The Wi-Fi actually works (I had to take some work calls), and there’s enough space to spread out your hiking gear without tripping over everything. Plus, and this might sound weird, but the beds are properly firm – after a day of hiking in the Tatras, the last thing you want is to sink into some marshmallow mattress. The only minor thing I’d mention is that parking can be a bit tricky during summer weekends, but honestly, that’s true anywhere in central Zakopane. You’ll figure it out, and there’s usually street parking within a block or two if you’re not too picky about walking a tiny bit extra.
You'll need to let the property know in advance what time you'll arrive.
