Apartament Niebiańska Polana by Apart Concept Podhale
Honestly, I wasn’t sure what to expect when I first pulled up to Apartament Niebiańska Polana – the name alone is quite a mouthful, and tucked away on Nędzy Kubińca street in Kościelisko, it felt like we were heading into properly local territory. But you know what? Sometimes those hidden gems turn out to be exactly what you didn’t know you were looking for.
The apartment itself is part of the Apart Concept Podhale group, and they’ve really nailed that sweet spot between hotel comfort and apartment practicality. I mean, you get all the space and freedom of having your own place, but with the kind of attention to detail that makes you feel looked after. The interiors have this clean, mountain-modern vibe – lots of light wood and neutral tones that somehow manage to feel both cozy and sophisticated. What really struck me was how quiet it was, especially considering you’re still close enough to Zakopane’s chaos when you want it. The soundproofing is actually impressive, which matters more than you’d think when you’re trying to sleep off a day of hiking in the Tatras.
The location is cleverly chosen, too – Kościelisko isn’t as touristy as central Zakopane, so you get better prices at the local restaurants and a genuine feel for how people actually live in this part of Podhale. There’s this fantastic little grocery store just a few minutes’ walk away (essential when you’ve got apartment-style accommodations), and the bus connections to the main attractions are surprisingly reliable. Parking was straightforward, which – let me tell you – is not something you can take for granted around here, especially during peak season. I visited in early autumn, and while the summer crowds had mostly thinned out, you could tell this place would hold its own even when things get busy. The building feels solid and well-maintained, not like some of those hastily converted apartments you sometimes encounter in popular mountain destinations. Check-in was refreshingly human – actual conversation rather than just handing over keys and rushing off. They clearly know their area well and had genuinely useful suggestions for restaurants and hiking routes that weren’t just the obvious tourist traps. With a 9/10 rating, I expected it to be good, but what impressed me most was how it earned those points through dozens of small details done right rather than flashy amenities. It’s the kind of place where you find yourself already planning your next visit before you’ve even checked out.
