The name isn’t just clever marketing either – you actually can hear the water flowing below, especially in the morning when Kowary is still quiet and the sound drifts up through the windows.

What really got me was how the owner clearly gets what travelers actually need. The kitchen isn’t just some token setup with a broken coffee maker – it’s properly stocked, like someone who cooks actually designed it. I found myself making proper breakfasts instead of just grabbing pastries from the bakery down the street (though honestly, that bakery is worth the walk too). The whole place feels lived-in but not worn down, if that makes sense. There’s this attention to small details that you don’t usually get in vacation rentals – good lighting where you need it, enough outlets near the bed, a shower that actually has decent water pressure. The furnishings aren’t Instagram-perfect, but they’re comfortable and functional, which matters more when you’re actually staying somewhere for more than a photo op.

Kowary itself is sort of this perfect base camp situation – close enough to the Sudeten Mountains for day hikes, but far enough from the tourist chaos of the bigger resort towns. I’d walk along the river in the evenings, and you realize why someone thought to build an apartment right here. The location on Jeleniogórska puts you within easy walking distance of the town center (such as it is), but the street itself stays pretty quiet. Parking was straightforward too, which anyone who’s driven around Polish mountain towns will appreciate. The 9.5 rating makes total sense once you’ve stayed here – it’s not trying to be some luxury resort experience, but it absolutely nails what it is: a genuinely comfortable, well-thought-out place to stay while you explore this part of Lower Silesia. You know what sealed it for me? I found myself planning my next trip back before I’d even checked out.
