Look, I’ve stayed in a lot of places in Zakopane, and Apartament Krupówki 73 honestly surprised me – in the best way possible. When you first walk up, you’re literally on the main pedestrian strip, which I thought might be a nightmare noise-wise, but the apartment is positioned just right so you get all the energy without the chaos keeping you up at night.
The space itself is what I’d call “Polish mountain practical” – it’s not trying to be some Instagram-worthy chalet, but everything works and there’s actually room to spread out. I mean, they say 2-7 people, and while seven might be pushing it unless you’re really close friends, four or five people can definitely be comfortable here. The kitchen’s got what you need if you want to cook (and honestly, with the grocery stores right nearby, you probably should at least make breakfast – those restaurant prices on Krupówki can add up fast). What I really appreciated was having actual counter space and a proper fridge, not some tiny hotel mini-bar situation.
Here’s the thing about the location that makes it special – you’re basically at the heart of everything, but you know what? That’s exactly where you want to be in Zakopane. Step outside and you’ve got the whole Krupówki promenade at your feet. The cable car to Gubałówka is maybe a ten-minute walk, the bus station’s close enough that you don’t need a taxi but far enough that you’re not dealing with diesel fumes. And if you’re planning to hit the trails – which, let’s be honest, is probably why you’re here – you can walk to most of the popular starting points or catch transport super easily.
The apartment gets crazy good reviews (like, 9 out of 10 good), and after staying there, I get it. It’s not fancy, but it’s genuine and functional in a way that actually makes your trip better instead of just looking pretty in photos. The check-in was straightforward, parking… well, it’s Zakopane in summer, so parking anywhere is going to be an adventure, but there are options nearby. The building itself has that solid, no-nonsense feel that a lot of the older places on Krupówki have – you know it’s been here a while and it’ll probably be here long after the trendy spots come and go.
Honestly, if you’re the type of traveler who wants to actually experience Zakopane instead of just staying in some sterile hotel, this place makes sense. You’ll fall asleep to the distant sound of people enjoying themselves on the street below (but not so loud you can’t sleep), wake up and grab fresh oscypek from a vendor literally outside your door, and spend your days hiking in the Tatras knowing you’ve got a real home base to come back to, not just a room with a bed.
