Look, I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to Os. Kasprusie 13, I wasn’t expecting much from what looked like a pretty standard residential building. But here’s the thing about Zakopane that you figure out pretty quickly: some of the best spots are tucked away in these quiet neighborhoods where actual locals live. This 65-square-meter apartment turned out to be exactly that kind of pleasant surprise. You’re basically in a real Polish mountain town setting, not some touristy bubble, which I actually loved. The building itself is nothing fancy – think solid Eastern European construction from a few decades back – but the apartment inside is genuinely comfortable and well put together. What really got me was how much space you actually have here, especially compared to those cramped hotel rooms closer to Krupówki Street where everyone else stays.
The location is honestly perfect if you know what you’re doing in Zakopane. You’re maybe a 10-minute walk from the main drag, but far enough away that you don’t hear drunk tourists stumbling around at 2 AM (trust me on this one). The Kasprusie area is where a lot of locals actually live, so you’ll find yourself grabbing groceries at the same little shops and maybe even picking up some Polish along the way. I mean, the apartment has everything you need – proper kitchen, decent WiFi, and the heating actually works, which is more than I can say for some places I’ve stayed in Polish mountain towns during shoulder season. The only thing that took some getting used to was the building’s entry system – you know how it is with these older apartment buildings, the buzzer situation can be a bit confusing at first. But honestly, once you’re settled in, it feels more like you’re staying at a friend’s place than some sterile hotel room.
What really sells this place for me is that you’re positioned perfectly for both the touristy stuff and the real Zakopane experience. Yeah, you can walk to all the restaurants and souvenir shops easily enough, but you’re also close to some of the hiking trails that locals actually use – not just the crowded cable car routes. The apartment itself sleeps several people comfortably without everyone being on top of each other, and there’s actually enough hot water for everyone to shower, which… well, let’s just say that’s not always a given in mountain accommodations. The whole setup just works, you know? It’s clean, it’s practical, and it doesn’t try to be something it’s not. For the price point and the amount of space you get, especially if you’re traveling with family or a group of friends, this beats hotel rooms hands down. Plus, there’s something really nice about making your own coffee in the morning and planning your day without rushing to check out.
