You know what struck me first about Apartament Ewa? It’s tucked right on Kurierów Tatrzańskich street, which honestly sounds intimidating if you don’t speak Polish, but it’s actually this perfect little residential road that locals use as a shortcut to avoid the tourist chaos on Krupówki. I mean, you’re still close enough to walk to all the action in about eight minutes, but when you come back at night, it’s blissfully quiet – no drunk tourists stumbling around singing at 2 AM.

The apartment itself is one of those places that punches way above its three-star rating. Ewa (I’m assuming that’s the owner’s name) has clearly put thought into the small stuff that actually matters when you’re staying somewhere. The heating works properly – and trust me, that’s not a given in Zakopane during winter when temperatures drop to ridiculous levels. There’s decent water pressure in the shower, which is honestly a minor miracle in this part of town where half the old buildings have plumbing that seems to date back to the Soviet era. The kitchen actually has sharp knives and real plates instead of those flimsy things that break if you look at them wrong. It’s not fancy, but it’s functional in a way that makes you feel like you could actually live there for a week without going crazy.

What I love about the location is that you’re positioned perfectly for both summer and winter activities. If you’re here for hiking, you can literally see the cable car station for Kasprowy Wierch from some of the windows, and the bus stops for getting to trail heads are right there. Winter visitors will appreciate being close to the ski rental places without being right in the middle of the ski bunny madness. Plus – and this is key – there’s actual parking available, which is like finding gold in Zakopane during peak season. The building sits in this slightly elevated spot that gives you glimpses of the Tatras without paying resort prices for mountain views. Sure, it’s not a postcard panorama, but on clear mornings you can see enough peaks to remind you why you came to this corner of Poland in the first place. The 9/10 rating makes complete sense once you spend a night there – it’s the kind of place where everything just works without any drama, which is exactly what you want after a long day of hiking or dealing with tourist crowds.
