Apartament De Luxe – Viva pod Giewontem Apartamenty
Look, I’ve stayed at plenty of places in Zakopane over the years, but this apartment on Krzeptowskiego really caught me off guard – and I mean that in the best way possible. You know how sometimes you book a place based on photos and cross your fingers? Well, Apartament De Luxe actually lives up to its name, which honestly surprised me given how many “luxury” places around here are just regular apartments with fancy lighting in their photos.
The location is what really sold me though. Krzeptowskiego street puts you right in that sweet spot where you’re close enough to hear the evening buzz from Krupówki (maybe a 7-minute walk?) but far enough that you’re not dealing with drunk tourists stumbling past your window at 2 AM. And here’s something locals know – you’re practically next door to some of the better trailheads if you’re planning to tackle Giewont, which I’m guessing is why they named it “pod Giewontem.” The morning light hitting that peak from the apartment windows is… well, it’s pretty spectacular if you’re up early enough. The apartment itself feels like someone actually thought about how people live, not just how spaces photograph. The kitchen has proper counter space – I mean, you can actually prep a meal without playing Tetris with your groceries. After spending days hiking around Morskie Oko or dealing with the summer crowds, having a real living room where you can spread out makes all the difference. The bathroom’s got one of those rainfall showerheads that actually has decent pressure, which trust me, matters when you’ve been trudging through mountain trails all day.
What really impressed me was the attention to those little details that most places skip. Good WiFi that doesn’t cut out every twenty minutes, blackout curtains that actually block light (crucial if you’re trying to sleep in during vacation), and – this might sound weird but hear me out – proper hangers in the closet instead of those flimsy wire things. The building’s quiet too, which in Zakopane can be hit or miss depending on where you end up. Check-in was smooth, no weird key-pickup drama or confusing instructions. I’d definitely come back, especially during shoulder season when the rates drop a bit and you can enjoy the mountains without fighting crowds for every decent photo spot.
