Apartament Dabe Hd
You know what surprised me about Apartament Dabe Hd? The location actually works way better than you’d think from the address. Sure, it’s tucked away on Ion Luca Caragiale Street in this residential block – I mean, you’re literally staying in someone’s apartment building – but that’s exactly what makes it feel authentic. The building itself is one of those classic Romanian blocks, and you’ll be on the second floor (European counting, so that’s actually the third floor if you’re American), which means you get decent light without street noise.
Honestly, the 9.6 rating makes total sense once you’re there. The apartment is surprisingly well-maintained for a 3-star place, and the owners clearly put thought into the details. The kitchen actually has everything you need if you want to grab groceries from the little market down the street – I ended up cooking a few meals there because, well, Romanian restaurants can get heavy after a while. What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets at night. You’re in a residential area, so once the kids finish playing in the courtyard around 8 PM, it’s genuinely peaceful. The Wi-Fi is solid too, which matters if you’re trying to plan day trips to Corvin Castle (which is basically why everyone comes to Hunedoara anyway).
The thing about staying here is that you’re living like a local, not like a tourist. Your neighbors are just… regular people going about their lives. The woman in the apartment next door actually helped me figure out the bus schedule to get to the castle – turns out there’s a much easier route than what Google Maps suggests. Walking to the town center takes maybe 15 minutes, and you’ll pass this little bakery that opens ridiculously early and smells incredible. Parking isn’t a nightmare either, which is honestly a relief in Romanian cities. I’d say this place works best if you’re the type who likes having your own space to decompress after a day of sightseeing, rather than wanting hotel services and lobby hangouts. The check-in was smooth – they met me right at the apartment, showed me around properly, and left me with their number in case anything came up. Nothing fancy, but competent and friendly. It’s basically like borrowing a friend’s place, if that friend happened to be really organized and considerate about guest towels.
