Look, I’ll be honest – when I first saw “Apartament Confort Hd” on the booking site, I almost scrolled past it. The name sounds sort of generic, you know? But man, I’m glad I didn’t because this little gem on Strada Eliberării turned out to be one of those pleasant surprises that makes you want to tell everyone about it.
The thing about Hunedoara is that it’s not your typical Romanian tourist trap – it’s actually got this authentic, lived-in feel that’s hard to find these days. The apartment sits right in the heart of things, and I mean that in the best way possible. You’re literally a few minutes’ walk from Corvin Castle (which, honestly, is way more impressive than the photos suggest), but you’re also close enough to the regular neighborhoods where locals actually live and work. There’s this bakery just around the corner where the bread smell hits you every morning around 7 AM – actually became my unofficial alarm clock. The street itself is pretty quiet, especially compared to the main tourist areas, though you’ll hear some traffic during rush hour. Nothing too crazy, and the windows are decent quality so it doesn’t really bother you at night.
What really got me was the attention to detail inside. I mean, for a 3-star place, they’ve clearly put thought into making it feel like home rather than just another generic rental. The kitchen actually has everything you need – not just the bare minimum like some places – and the Wi-Fi is solid, which matters if you’re trying to get any work done. The host was super responsive too, which you don’t always get with apartment rentals. Had a small issue with the heating on my second night (this was in March, so still pretty chilly), and they sorted it out within a couple hours. The 9.7 rating honestly makes sense when you stay there – it’s not that everything is perfect or luxurious, but everything works the way it should, and there’s clearly someone who cares about the guest experience behind it all. Plus, parking isn’t the nightmare it can be in some Romanian cities. There’s street parking that’s usually available, and the host gives you the local tips on where to park without getting a ticket. You know what really sealed it for me though? The shower pressure. Sounds silly, but after a long day exploring the castle and hiking around the area, that hot water hits different when it’s actually got some force behind it.
