Honestly, I wasn’t expecting much when I first pulled up to Apart-Center Zakopiańskie Tarasy SPA on Koscieliska Street – the name’s a bit of a mouthful, and let’s face it, apartment-style hotels can be hit or miss. But this place actually surprised me in the best way. The location is pretty sweet if you know Zakopane at all; you’re right in that sweet spot where you can walk to the main drag without being stuck in the tourist chaos. Koscieliska is one of those streets that feels residential but you’re still close enough to everything that matters – I mean, you can practically smell the grilled oscypek cheese from the street vendors when the wind’s right.
What really got me was how they’ve managed to blend that mountain lodge vibe with actual modern comfort. The spa part isn’t just some afterthought either – after spending a day hiking around Gubałówka (which, by the way, is totally doable from here), soaking in their facilities felt like exactly what my legs needed. The apartments themselves are surprisingly spacious, and you know what I appreciated most? Proper kitchen setups. Not those sad hotel kitchenettes with a mini-fridge and two plates, but actual space where you can cook if you want to save some złoty or just enjoy those amazing local ingredients from the market. The mountain views from most rooms are legitimate too – not some tiny window glimpse but proper Tatra panoramas that make you want to grab your camera every morning.
The whole setup works especially well if you’re doing Zakopane right, which means staying more than just a night or two. During peak season (summer hiking months and winter ski time), this place fills up with people who actually get it – travelers who want that home base feeling while they explore. I stayed in October, which I’d totally recommend if you can swing it; the crowds thin out but the weather’s still decent for hiking, and honestly, the autumn colors against those mountain peaks are ridiculous. Staff speaks solid English, check-in was painless, and parking’s included which – trust me on this – is not something to take for granted in Zakopane. The only minor thing is that being slightly up the hill from the very center means a five-minute walk to Krupówki Street, but honestly, that’s probably a blessing since you avoid the worst of the evening tourist crowds. For a 4-star place, it punches above its weight, and that 8-rating makes total sense once you’ve actually stayed there.
