A-PARTMAN SK – Main Square – Private Parking – Mountain View – Top Floor – 82 m2
You know what caught me off guard about this place? The fact that you’re literally staying on Poprad’s main square – like, right there where locals grab their morning coffee and tourists figure out their High Tatras plans – but it doesn’t feel touristy at all. The apartment sits on the top floor of this older building on Námestie svätého Egídia, and honestly, the mountain views from up there are something else. On clear mornings (which happen more often than you’d expect), you can see the Tatra peaks stretching out like they’re posing for your Instagram stories.
The space itself is properly spacious – 82 square meters means you’re not playing Tetris with your luggage, and there’s actually room to spread out if you’re planning day hikes or just need to decompress after wandering around town. What I really appreciated was having that private parking spot, because let me tell you, finding parking around the main square can be… well, let’s just say it’s not fun during peak season when everyone’s heading to the mountains. The apartment feels lived-in rather than sterile – I mean that in the best way. You’ve got everything you need without that weird hotel anonymity where every surface is too shiny and you’re afraid to touch anything.
Being right on the square means you’re steps away from decent restaurants (the Slovak food around here is actually pretty solid), and you can walk to the train station in about ten minutes if you’re planning those scenic rides up to the mountains. The building itself has that Central European charm – thick walls that actually keep things quiet despite being in the heart of everything. I stayed there during a busy weekend in summer and barely heard the square’s activity, which was a pleasant surprise. The only thing I’d mention is that the top floor means stairs if you’re hauling heavy gear, but honestly, the views make it worth the climb. Plus, there’s something satisfying about being up above it all, watching the square come alive in the mornings and wind down in the evenings. It’s the kind of place where you actually want to hang out in the apartment rather than just crash there between adventures.
